You Don’t Have to Climb the Mountain Alone

My name is Alexa.

I would be so honored to support you throughout the counseling process!

I work with adolescents (16+), adult individuals, and families facing a wide range of mental health challenges and relationship issues. I particularly love working with college students, adult women and those living with chronic illness.

My office is conveniently located off of 8th Avenue in Nashville.

Healing isn’t linear.

So often, we wish our pain would disappear in a poof — when in reality, healing occurs in a process: an imperfect, nuanced, freeing process. It is a process that requires work, but what you gain is well worth every ounce you invest. The view at the top of the mountain is worth the climb.

When facing roadblocks on the path of healing, it’s not always about trying harder — sometimes, it’s about trying something different. We are not meant to face challenges alone, and the difference the right mental health provider can make is truly amazing. I would love to talk with you further to see if I am a fit for you and your current needs!

Shame cannot survive when spoken and met with empathy.

Painful feelings will weaken over time as long as we don’t prolong or amplify them through resistance or avoidance. The only way to eventually free ourselves from debilitating pain, therefore, is to be with it as it is. The only way out is through.

One day you will see just how brave you have been.

My Mission

At Alexa Stallings Counseling, my mission is to help clients cultivate personal growth, healthy connection, and renewed hope in their mental health and relationships. I ground my work in the therapeutic relationship, evidence-based practices and trauma-informed care in order to provide personalized, empirically sound support to each individual.

Personal Growth

Neuroplasticity is the brain’s ability to change, adapt and reorganize itself in response to experiences, learning and environment. Neuroplasticity is a key reason I believe personal growth remains possible throughout one’s entire lifespan. I strive to guide clients through the process of retraining neural pathways — supporting the transformation of well-engrained thought patterns, habitual self-talk and long-standing behaviors.

Healthy Connection

I believe healthy connection is a vital foundation for successful relationships and a good quality of life. My therapeutic perspective employs a family-systems lens. This means I view each individual within the framework of their greater communities and relationships. Using the therapeutic relationship between client and clinician as a touchstone for change, I strive to help clients strengthen the quality of their attachments within their support system.

Renewed Hope

The depth of suffering that life can bring is often shocking and overwhelming. I believe our bottomless holes of pain can be transformed into deep wells of hope that strengthen and nourish others. Sometimes amid our lowest moments, hope needs to be temporarily held for us by someone else. I strive to provide a safe space for clients to explore the complexity of both hurting and healing, darkness and light, despair and hope.

Let’s Get Started.
